Abstract
This study aims to describe the mathematical connection profile of female high school students in mathematical problem solving. This research is a descriptive exploratory research with a qualitative approach that reveals the meaning behind the symptoms that occur on the subject of research. This research subject is a female high school student of class XI highly capable. Methods of data collection research is in-depth interviews and analysis tasks that are based on mathematical problem-solving task. All data recorded using a video recorder. To obtain the data that is credible through continuous observation/consistent and unyielding (increase persistence), triangulation of time and check. Data were analyzed using flow models include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that students mathematical connection profiles are reviewed by the Polya troubleshooting steps that is understanding the problem, making the settlement plan, carry out the settlement plan, and check the answers. First, the students mathematical connection profiles in understanding the problem is understand the problem by presenting the information (facts) on the issue in the form of a mathematical diagram correctly. Identifying the parts (facts) in the sketch made by linking the principles of algebra and math facts at issue. Identify the mathematics concepts and principles of the problem to be solved of what is known and asked the real issue will be resolved. Wrote some of what is known on the issue in the form of mathematical symbols, do not rewrite what is asked in the problem. Second, the mathematical connection profiles of students in making plans for problem solving is suggested steps to resolve the questions at issue by using the troubleshooting procedures that have been conceived, to find a link to people questions on the issue with the principles and mathematical procedures that have been understood. Third, the connection profiles mathematical students in implementing the settlement plan is to use the relationship a few facts, concepts, mathematical principles that have been studied previously with mathematical principles that exist on the problem, using some mathematical principles to obtain a mathematical principle to another, using concepts and mathematical procedures to obtain settlement of the problem. Fourth, students mathematical connection profiles in recheck the answer by reviewing the formulas used, the steps that have been done, the results of arithmetic operations algebra obtained as well as the final answer is obtained, believes the final answer is correct, arguing that all the formula used is true, the measure used is correct, the end result matches the result of reworking done.
