FUNCTIONING OF LITERARY VOCABULARY IN THE LANGUAGE OF UKRAINIAN PERIODICALS IN THE EARLY XXI CENTURY

In the article the functioning of literary vocabulary of the language of Ukrainian periodicals in the early XXI century is discussed; the linguists' research is overviewed and the information on the operation of this group of words in the Ukrainian language system is summarized; it is described how to create literary vocabulary and the scope of its use is defined ;it is found out that this vocabulary is widely used in the language of journalism. The examples of the texts from printed media with using different vocabulary portrait thematic groups, which characterize the power, passing the election campaign and the elections and the Ukrainian-Russian relations have been analyzed, and it is outlined the meaning of the words which perform different roles in journalistic texts: stress the negative attitude of the author to somebody or something, provide the text with ironic or mocking tone or sublimity, grandeur ornate. It is summed up that the question of the use of the literary words in the domestic media is not exhaustible and requires the further investigation.
