The development of Shevchenko’s studies in the PRC in the 20th – at the beginning of the 21st century

Abstract
The article discusses the development of Shevchenko's Studies in China from the early twentieth century to the present day. The author established that the first publication of Ukrainian poet's poems in China were done in the 1920s. Originally poems by Taras Shevchenko were published in Ukrainian editions of our emigration in Harbin and Shanghai. Publications by Kobzar's poems in Chinese began in the late 1920s – early 1930s. First article about Ukrainian writer and his poem «Oh, three wide ways» was published by a Chinese writer and literary critic Zhou Tszozhen. Overall, this article is devoted to works in the field of Shevchenko's Studies by Chinese literary critics, including Lu Xun, Xiao Sanya Chen Yuan, Sun Wei, Meng Hai, Zhang Tesyan and others. The most prominent Chinese expert in Shevchenko's Studies today is a connoisseur of Slavic literature, translator, literary critic Professor Ge Baotsyuan, who first translated the poems by Shevchenko from to Ukrainian Chinese (his precursors carried translations of Kobzar's poems mainly from Russian, German and English). It is also found that studying of life and works of Taras Shevchenko in China is included into many university courses in foreign literature, «Testament» is studied in Chinese schools. In 2008 the monument to Kobzar was opened. A collection of Kobzar's poems in Chinese which contains 139 texts was published in 2016.
