Established in the 18th century and still used by the town'stiny Jewish community, the cemetery is believed to be the oldest Jewish cemetery in Transylvania and one of the oldest in Romania. The research details the work has been carried out on the cemetery funded by the Alba County Council, which employs newtechnology such aslaserscanning to document stones and make a complete inventory of the oldestsection of its historicalsection, accessible via a GIS web application.
