Abstract
The establishment and development of medical education in Katerynoslav province in the second half of the 19th century is analyzed. The prerequisites for the creation of the province zemstvo school for doctors' assistants, which initiated the training of skilled medical personnel in our region, are described. The Statute of the School, approved by the Minister of the Interior affairs on April 2, 1870 is analyzed; in particular, the main objective of the creation of the school and its management are considered, the content of the curriculum of the school according to “Normal Statute of the zemstvo school for doctors' assistants” in 1872 and 1897 is examined, the changes in the educational requirements for educational qualification of applicants are explained. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the dynamics of volume of doctors assistants training at the school in the second half of the 19th century, changes in the social composition of students. A significant focus is given to the role of the provincial zemstvo in the activities as to the school management and financial support.
