THE ROLE AND CHARACTERISTICS OF FOREIGN INVESTMENTS IN AZERBAIJAN'S ECONOMY

Active investment activity determines the basis for the successful development of the economy, and also helps to determine the prospects for modernization and diversification of the economy. The article deals issues related not only to the amount of foreign investment, but also quality – the structure, by types of attracted investments, their composition, distribu- tion industry. It is noted that foreign investment is one of the main factors contributing to di- versification and the establishment of a competitive economy. The author proposes measures to attract foreign investments in country's economy and the need to demonstrate the invest- ment opportunities in the non-oil, and in particular the agricultural sector
