T. G. Shevchenko in the life and creative heritage of S. O. Efremov

Abstract

In the article the author shows that S. Efremov got to know Shevchenko`s litereture heritage in his youth years. His understanding of Kobzar was being formed according to the process of intellectual dialogue in Ukrainian national environment. Efremov was systematically interested in the biography as well as Shevchenko`s intellectual relationships. During his life he studied Shevchenko's creative heritage, that was consequently reflected in Efremov`s numerous works: notes, correspondence and articles. The great importance for him was to find new unknown Shevchenko`s works. Studying Shevchenko's heritage, S. Efremov was extremely careful. It was important, that he deepened into the creative laboratory of the great poet, looking for his literature genesis and trying to find out the essence of his ideological, civil, linguistic and cultural position in Ukrainian literature. He considered Shevchenko as a part of Ukrainian intellectual circles and literature community. He stressed that Kobzar had known the works of his literature predecessors and contemporaries. The Ukrainian poet had a common literature interests with some writers, he also had a friendly contacts and cordial friendship with some of them. As S. Efremov noted, Shevchenko was interested in the history of Ukraine. The author of this article has also proved that S. Efremov had paid much attention to preserving of historical memory about Taras Shevchenko. Thus, in his notes Efremov frequently mentioned about the organization of Shevchenko's annual anniversaries celebrations. For S. Efremov Taras Shevchenko problem was connected with general level of the Ukrainian people culture and Ukrainian national consciousness. He summoned the public to erect a monument in honor of Shevchenko. Taras Shevchenko's grave in Kanev is a kind of monument, that became a holy place for the Ukrainian people.
