Princely separatism in the Eastern Europe during the Late Medieval period: connection between the sources and knowledge beyond the boundary of sources

Abstract

The article is devoted to the importance of the knowledge beyond the boundary of sources in historical studies devoted to the history of the Great principality of Lithuania. Also were examined main complexes of documentary and narrative sources related to this issue, such as: belorussian-lithuanian chronicles, chronicles from Novgorod and Pskov and other monuments of the historical literature which were published in "The complete collection of russian chronicles", documentary sources, contained in the Lithuanian metric, documents of the state structures of the Great principality of Moscow. n the basis of Ukrainian and foreign studies were proposed the principles of classification of sources related to the princely separatism and were examined specific features of each group of historical sources. On the basis of considered studies and historical facts was demonstrated the importance of applying the knowledge beyond the boundary of sources in the studies devoted to the princely rebellions on the lands of of the Great principality of Lithuania. Also was justified the necessity of applying new research technologies, which will allow researchers use the information contained it the sources related to this problem more intensively and productively. This is especially important because of the limited source base, fragmentary and contradictory of references to the considered events.
