Abstract
This article presents a brief historical overview of the emergence and development of the concept of "psychopathy." It considered domestic and foreign studies of personality disorders that are present in medical and psychological literature of the XIX century. The author studied the role of such famous scientists as V.H. Kandinsky, O.A. Chechott and I.M. Balinsky, in developing of the new understanding of psychopathy in forensic psychiatric practice.
