Abstract
In this article based on the analysis of literary texts by N.S. Leskov, the Russian writer of the 19th century, the attention is focused on such personality characteristic as devoutness; its manifestation in language at the syntactic level is considered. The syntactic constructions, figures (verbal adverb phrases and comparative expressions, anticipation, periphrasis etc.) used by the author for disclosure of own creative concept are noted.
