Abstract
An overview of doctor's (Dr. habil.) and candidate's (PhD) theses in Archaeology defended in 2014 at the Institute of History named after Sh. Marjani with the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences is provided. Among these, one thesis was conferred the degree of Doctor of historical sciences (M. A. Ochir-Goryaeva) and five theses – the degree of candidate of historical Sciences (K.V. Vanyusheva, N.V. Roslyakova, R.R. Ruslanova, D.A. Frantsuzov, N.S. Myasnikov). Dissertation topics are related to various problems of the archaeology of the Bronze and Early Iron ages, the epoch of migrations, and the Early Middle Ages in the Volga region, the Urals and adjacent regions from the Northern Black Sea coast to the Altai Mountains, as well as to the history of archaeological science of the late 19th – early 20th century.
