Abstract
Dual structural systems in high rise buildings are effective in resisting lateral loads and show excellent performance during earthquake. In this structural system, mostly shear walls are provided for full height of building. However, the role of shear wall in the upper portion of building in resisting the lateral load is minimal and exclusively taken care by the frames. Hence, elimination of shear walls in upper portion of wall frame structure is not necessarily detrimental to the seismic performance of building. This concept has been employed in 30 storeyed symmetrical RCC building model with curtailment of shear wall up to different height of building. Dynamic Analysis of three dimensional models were carried out in the STAAD. Pro software.
