Abstract
Various numerical characteristics of seismic input to be used to describe the macroseismic intensity are considered. Dependencies of the analyzed characteristics on the prevailing input period, based on the records of 75 strong earthquake accelerograms, are obtained. It is shown that the peak acceleration can not characterize macroseismic-intensity. All the above characteristics have a large dispersion within the framework of the same macroseismicintensity. The dispersion turned out to be the lowest for the cumulative absolute velocity (CAV), and the dependence on the prevailing period was not only found for the input peak velocity.
