Abstract
The influence of Ivan Aivazovsky on formation of art of marine painter Emmanuil Magdesyan is significant. Working under the supervision of I. Aivazovsky for many years, E. Magdesyan was under the wholesome influence of art of the great marine painter. I. Aivazovsky even entrusted him copying some of his seascapes. However after going abroad and studying the works of the new prospective European art, E. Magdesyan's work changed stylistically in some way. Nevertheless, in whole E. Magdesyan remained the Ivan Aivazovsky's successor being a prominent representative of Cimmerian school.
