Abstract
Colleagues congratulate the staff member of the Institute of History named after S. Mardjani with the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, candidate of historical sciences Galina Ivanovna Drozdova on her birth anniversary. G. I. Drozdova specializes in the medieval history of the peoples of the Volga river region; she has authored over 50 articles dealing mainly with the funerary rites and religious beliefs of the medieval population of the region. She has discovered and conducted the studies of the later medieval burial ground sites in the territory of Tatarstan and the Chuvash Republic, and the materials obtained served to considerably expand the scientific insight into the spiritual culture of the Volga peoples.
