REVIEW ON THE MONOGRAPH «THE CURRENT STATE AND PROBLEMS OF USING INLAND WATERWAYS (on the example of the Volga-Caspian Maritime Canal)»

The book is devoted to topical issues of state regulation of inland waterways, international experience and domestic practice of their operation. The monograph was prepared by the authors when preparing the text of the report for the meeting of the Presidium of the State Council of the Russian Federation on the issue «On the Development of Inland Waterways of the Russian Federation» in 2016. Based on the results of the work carried out and on the basis of the assessment of the current state of inland waterways, the monograph deals with pro- posals for improving legislation, the management system and integrated use of water resources, which are aimed at achieving a balance in the use of the richest resources of rivers, lakes and reservoirs that Russia possesses. Also in the monograph are materials on the current status of the Volga-Caspian Maritime Shipping Channel, the specifics of its operation, technical solutions aimed at improving the safety of navigation on channel, including through the use of modern ship traffic control systems
