Abstract

In this article, the forum is considered as a genre of Internet communication. The work is devoted to the study of language and speech features of forums. Within the framework of the research, the analysis of both major all-Russian forums and local ones was carried out. Their language features (computer slang, jargon, obscene vocabulary, fictitious languages, abbreviations, etc.) are considered in detail. The relevance of this work considers the fact that in the process of its writing, a modern instrument, within which people communicate and receive basic information, is being explored. The main features of the genre are revealed. The Internet forum is specific because an unlimited number of people can take part in the discussion. Today, the forum can be considered a powerful tool forming public opinion along with the media. When a problem or question arises, users turn to the forums for help. As a result of the research, it was revealed that, despite its mass character, some forums could have a more individual and narrowly focused character. On some sites there are their own abbreviations, which are understandable only to certain groups. Consequently, such communication has limitations. In general, the messages within the forum are understandable to a wide range of people. The paradox of forums shows that sometimes users trust the information contained in them more than specialists in a particular field. Women's forums are a vivid example. The authors come to the conclusion that forum can be a tool for shaping public opinion, which means that forum is a kind of mass media.
