Abstract
The present research was aimed at preparation of rapidly disintegrating tablets that yield micro matrices upon disintegration. Three types of micro matrices were prepared by using two different polymers like Xanthan gum and HPMC K15M. The polymers were used individually and in combination. When polymers were used individually, the drug and polymer ratio was 1:2, where as in combination usage the ratio was 1:3. Each type of micro matrices were formulated in to three different formulations of rapid melt tablets by using two different super disintegrants like cros-povidone and sodium starch glycolate both individually and in combination. The prepared tablets were evaluated for disintegration, dispersion, wetting and drug release properties. The formulation containing a combination of polymers and super disintegrants has given the best results.
