Abstract
The number of HIV infected among women of reproductive age has increased recently. HIV infection in pregnant women causes various complications. The aim of the doctors is to decrease the risk of virus placental transmission to fetus and to protect health of the future mother. HIV infected women planning to have children need an opportunity of treatment and medical help, necessary for the standard gestation course and giving birth to HIV-negative children. The solution on the usage of anti-retroviral medicine is made by a woman after discussing her health and treatment effect on fetus with a medical officer. The study considers the peculiarities of Highly Active Anti-Retroviral Therapy preventing vertical transmission in HIV infected women.
