Abstract
The data on the dynamics of mortality and life span in the Republic of Belarus within 1959-2013 on the background of population aging is presented in the article. Basing on the statistical data of mortality in age categories of 5 y. o., 15-59, 60-69 and after 70 y. o., the health status issues of men and women living in urban and rural areas are shown. The mortality growth is likely to be related to population aging. The mortality of children under 5 y.o. decreases, mean age at death from the main causes increased. The mortality of working people increased (mostly in men), as well as the mortality of people aged 61-69 y.o. The dynamics of the age-specific mortality from the main causes is varied.
