Abstract
The article outlines the scientific research and scientific organizational activities of the Institute of Archaeology named after A.Kh. Khalikov in 2016 conducted within the framework of the Institute Development Strategy until 2020 approved by the Presidium of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences. Integrated interdisciplinary fundamental and applied research on the investigation and preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of peoples from the Volga-Ural region and the adjoining territories was performed in a wide range of historical and time periods from the Stone Age to the Modern Period on the basis of extensive interregional and international cooperation with the leading research centers and higher institutions of Russian and foreign countries.
