Abstract

The article analyzes the scientific work performed by a group of scientists from the Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus on the dependence of gas-dust mixture explosions in coal mines on the season and weather conditions. Along with the fact that the original hypothesis put forward by the authors deserves close attention and further study, its theoretical justification and conclusions are erroneous. The main mistake of the authors is to consider the task posed from the point of view of the explosion in underground mines by the mechanism of a thermal explosion, which in modern conditions is possible, but unlikely. In this article, an attempt is made to correct the proposed hypothesis, taking into account the provisions on chain chemical reactions, the adsorption potential and the thermodynamic state of the mine atmosphere at low atmospheric pressure and high humidity of the mine entering air.
