Abstract

The members of the American Board Organization established the Bursa station in 1834. They aimed to constitute a congregation that believes the Protestantism. But it isn't easy to reach this goal. For as much as the missionaries emit their missions, they obliged to dealt with crucial annoyances. Probably the most important problem was the adverse attitudes of the native clergy. The pastors and the priests of the city stick at nothing to prevent evangelic principles and hinder the Protestantism to penetrate Bursa for a long time. At this work it was aimed to investigate the conflict and contest among the two groups according to missionaries point of view in the context of Bursa.
