Abstract
This article is consecrated to the phenomenon which is not studied in details — to the repeated movements of the iconostases in the temples of St.-Petersburg during the 1st half — middle of the XVIII century. The new temples were decorated with the iconostases which had been created before and were taken from the run-down and annihilated churches. It permitted to make all the work within the short period and at the minimal expense. It came at an opportune time considering that the city was rapidly growing. The iconostases of the ambulatory and temporary churches of the Russian army were widely used and made a considerable part of all the St.-Petersburg iconostases in the XVIII century.
