Abstract
The article is devoted to the exhibition of the Armory Show, held in New York in 1913 and became a significant event in the artistic life of the United States beginning of the XX century. Being a huge collection of Western European art, which includes works of the Impressionists, Post-Impressionists (including Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cezanne), as well as some of the art direction beginning of the XX century (Fauvism, Cubism, Futurism, etc.), the Armory show made a huge impression on the residents of New York, becoming the impetus for the formation of a new view of modern art, the catalyst in the search for many American artists, pushing for a more bold statement of independence and their own artistic language.
