Abstract
The article is devoted to the problem of poetic representation of
«Other» in the literary text. The author emphasizes the idea that formation of the ideas of the «other» is largely in the field of representation. Much attention is given to consideration of images of Russian culture created by the authors of the Caucasian. In this work the author found out that Caucasian images of Russian culture characterized by ambivalence: the image of the enemy repels and scares, the Enlightenment image attracts and generates interest. Noteworthy is the author's treatment of Dagestan poetry as a source of ideas about of «other», presented by Russian culture.
