Abstract
The effect of the rice straw extract as an environmental waste on the corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 1 M HCl was studied using electrochemical techniques (open circuit potential measurement and potentiodynamic polarization such as linear polarization and Tafel polarization). The results revealed that the rice straw extract inhibited the anodic and cathodic reactions which indicated this inhibitor acted as a mixed type inhibitor. Thermodynamic calculations were investigated and indicated to the adsorption falls in Langmuir isotherm.
