Abstract
This article presents theoretical-methodological analysis of the concept of «modernization». There were defined the directions for transformation of societies. There was formulated the author’s definition of modernization phenomenon. There was proved that modernization of economy is an integral part of modernization processes in various spheres of social life that provides quantitative and qualitative changes in the transformation of society.
