PROBLEMS OF DELIVERING HEALTH CARE FOR GUNSHOT WOUNDS OF THE NECK

Abstract
Background. Rendering specialized medical care to patients with wounds of the neck is one of the most urgent problems of modern surgery. Purpose. To study the results of delivering health care for gunshot wounds of the neck, received in the conditions of the local military conflict. Material and methods. The analysis of 129 cases of gunshot wounds of the neck was carried out. The wounds were received in the Republic of Chechnya. Results. It was established that complications were present in 51.9% observations, purulent-septic ones being the most common (21.7%). Lethality was 32.5%. Conclusions. The incidence of complications of the wound process and the death rate among the wounded were established to be the main criteria of the effectiveness of rendering stage-by-stage medical care to the above cohort of the affected population.
