THE ORDER OF GRANTING VISITS TO CONVICTS IN THE PENAL LAW OF EUROPEAN COUNTRIES

Execution of criminal penalties is implemented in order to restore social justice and to prevent new crimes. Besides, criminal and penal law set the task of correcting the convicted person while serving the sentence. Correctional process is also provided through measures to preserve social contacts with relatives and close persons. To stimulate re-socialization of convicted persons the penal law regulates the order of visits, correspondence and telephone conversations. The article deals with comparative analysis of the legal basis of visits to prisoners and reveals some peculiarities in penal systems of European countries.
