SOCIO-CULTURAL IDENTITY IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE INTELLECTUALS AS A SUBJECT OF CIVIL SOCIETY

Abstract
Intellectuals is a part of civil society in contemporary Russia, the key role of which consists in the development of the spiritual sphere of civil society. In the functioning of civil society in contemporary Russia, it performs a number of functions, including: psychological (the production and preservation of cultural values), ideocracies (production and translation of political ideas), socializing, enlightenment function (function of intellectualization of society), and the formation of political culture of participation. However, modern intellectuals do not apply such characteristics that defined it`s function in civil society of the late XIX-early XX century (neither moral asceticism or radical opposition to the authorities, no claim for expression of the positions of civil society).
