THE RESEARCH OF M.R. POLESSKIH THE SETTLEMENTS OF GORODETS CULTURE OF THE PENZA REGION

The article is devoted to the history of the study of Gorodetsky settlements of the Penza region made by M. R. Polesskih. Their study was not included in the sphere of his main scientific interests. Basically he made their exploratory researches. Two towns Ekaterinovsky and the first Akhunsky were excavated by them. The researches of M.R. Polesskikh allowed to cover the questions of the chronology of the Gorodets antiquities, of the development of the economy of the ancient population on the territory of the Penza region.
