Abstract
Psychologists have asked questions of the study of envy relatively recently. In recent decades, work has been published in the field of psychology aimed at investigating this psychological phenomenon. To a greater extent, the authors revealed the emotional experience of envy, most often considering and assessing the manifestations of envy from the moral and ethical positions. Mankind is to a certain extent subject to envy. Envy is peculiar to a person regardless of gender, temperament, or character, all people are subject to it, regardless of class, status, privilege, age. Envy has repeatedly played a fatal role in the history of mankind, it was the cause of crime and war. In this article, an attempt is made to analyze the psychological mechanisms of the emergence of envy.
