Abstract
Delay incorporated to the traffic is the most effective parameter to measure the intersection performance in both design and evaluation. Overall delay caused to traffic gives the better efficiency of traffic signal operation but its determination is challenging due to non deterministic behavior of the traffic flow. Increased use of personalized mode and lower capacity of existing roads are resulting in congested intersections. As a result, a huge economic loss is incurred due to delay and its secondary causes. This study shows the relationship between the actual delay and the delay calculated by HCM model for four intersections in the Nagpur city by calculating the parameters using partial least square regression.
