Abstract
Rapid urbanization has led to construction of large number of multi storey buildings, As India is experiencing highly destructive earthquakes during last decades that made it to fall under category of moderate seismic zone and researchers has concluded that improper designing of these irregularly configured buildings was main cause for partial or complete collapse of structure. Therefore there is importance in considering the seismic load rather than dead and live loads due to its Non linearity behaviour which was uncertain at time of earth quake .To ensure the safety against these seismic forces an attempt is made to study the behaviour of building supported by raft foundation. This paper mainly discusses on estimation of the responses like storey drift, storey shears, storey displacement and base shears by linear and dynamic analysis by following the Indian standard codal provision IS 1893 -2002 with torsion irregularity check by CSI ETABS and substructure design by CSI SAFE which helps in estimation of settlement of foundation, soil pressure and punching shear values of G + 5 building present in zone III
