Abstract
This research paper deals about the experimental study on the stabilization of soil using environmental waste and coir fibre. The environmental waste taken into consideration was eggshell powder. The eggshell powder primarily contains Calcium Oxide. Basic properties of virgin soil like Atterberg's limits, compaction characteristics, California bearing ratio, Unconfined compressive strength were determined. The soil sample was treated with varying percentages of eggshell powder and the optimum percentage of eggshell powder for the soil was determined. The soil was then treated with optimum percentage of eggshell powder and varying percentages of coir fibres. It was observed that the soil showed considerable strength improvement with eggshell powder and coir fibre. The effective use of locally available materials like eggshell powder and coir fibres for the improvement of soil makes the study relevant and feasible
