Abstract
In the article investigated are the composition and informative constituents of the archival fond of I. I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology of the NAS of Ukraine for the period of 2006–2010. Identified is the specifics of the appraisal process of certain documental types. The author reveals that reviewed documents are a significant source base for the study of the history of zoological science in that period and enable us to carry out a comprehensive analysis of sources and characterize the development of main directions of the Institute
