Modernization of Ukraine: modern views and opportunities

The article shows that the priority tasks of modernization of Ukrainian society and economy are determined not only by globalization processes taking place in the world, but also by problems of neoindustrial development of industry. The analysis of the theoretical positions of neo-modernism and contemporary views of domestic economists suggests that modernization in Ukraine should be based on cultural heritage, territorial identity and uniqueness of the history of industrial development of the regions. At the same time, it is mandatory to take into account the general principles and "breakdowns of modernization", the experience of which has been accumulated in the developed countries. Implementation by regions of the role of the "locomotive" of innovation development is possible in the context of the expansion of the powers of local authorities and territorial communities, the availability of own resources necessary for the implementation of the whole complex of modernization tasks that are solved in this territory.
