Abstract
The article covers the history of foundation and activity of the Ukrainian Free University, treats the structure and the content of the institution archival fonds which was transferred to the Manuscript Institute of VNLU by the State Service for Control of Cultural Property Transfer over the State Border of Ukraine in 2001. The documents embrace the Munich period of the university activities. The fonds consists of documents in Ukrainian and German languages, which represent a wide scale of the institution activity areas in 1946 through 1998. The fonds materials systematization was conducted by thematical groups reflecting, in particular, the history of foundation and activity of the UFU, reports, chronicle of activities in 1947–1992, anniversary celebrations preparationand carrying, for instance, the Millennium of the Baptism of Russia–Ukraine, the academic activity in the university, correspondence, teaching staff activity documents, research papers etc. Complementary to the documents concerning the UFU, the archival fonds contains also the documental complexes of the Society of Ukrainian Science Promotion, the Society of the Ukrainian Free University Supporters, UFU Foundation in the USA, as well as the Ukrainian social institutions and student organizations in emigration.
