Abstract
We have analyzed a part of the collection of Ukrainian cinema posters dedicated to fiction film adaptations of V. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine and have revealed their information potential as a source of factual and visual information in the history of cinema art, literature and national poster graphics. It is pointed out that the research of the interrelation of cinema and literature in Ukrainian cinema posters is based on the bibliographic database (BBD) named «Ukrainian Cinema Poster of the Twentieth Century», based on the VNLU cinema posters collection. It is noted that the posters to film adaptations are not only a graphic pictorial parallel of the films, proposed to viewers, but also a distinctive reflection of the artistic integrity of the synthesis of cinema art, and literature, as they contain a vast array of factual and visual information. Besides a brief announcement of a film, text information about a creative staff of films – directors, screenwriters, cameramen, composers, actors, and required data about a title, genre variety and an author of a cinematized literary work, many cinema posters have graphic images or photographs of actors performing their roles.
