CONSTITUTIONAL REGULATION OF LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

The essence of local self-government bodies is manifested in the fact that, on the one hand, they take on the features of public authority, and on the other, are associations of citizens based on the principle of territoriality. For this reason, the interests of each individual and the public as a whole will be heard and protected in cases where local power in the state is based on the principles of self-government. The success and effectiveness of the activities of local governments depend on how their activities are organized. That is why the study of the constitutional foundations of local self-government is of particular interest. The article analyzed the most interesting approaches to the definition of the concept of "local self-government", proposed its own definition. In addition, the main provisions of the Constitution of the Russian Federation that regulate certain aspects of the activity of local self-government bodies were analyzed.
