Abstract

In present days, it's been noticed that concrete have been widely used as a construction material as due to its economy and the ability to be casted to any shapes. Hence the demand of concrete is increasing rapidly. So, it's necessary to use concrete in most efficient manner and also to increase the strength of the concrete since due to the emergence of high rise buildings. This can be fulfilled by incorporating additives that could make the concrete more efficient and increase the strength. Many researches resulted to the initiative of using nano materials like nano silica as addictive to increase the strength and physical properties along with durability of concrete by partial replacement of cement. The present work focuses on the properties of materials used and M50 grade concrete with the partial replacement of cement by Nano silica. Various tests are done in order to study the performance of Nano silica by replacing the cement by 1 % to 5 % by weight of cement and addition of super plasticizer called ceraplast- 300 at a concentration of 1% by weight of cement and also finding the optimum value of Nano-silica content as 4%. Properties such as compression strength, flexural strength, impact strength, split tensile strength, modulus of elasticity are majorly founded for both conventional and Nano-silica concrete.
