Abstract
The article analyzes one of the directions of scientific works of the famous Ukrainian librarian O. S. Sokolsky - the questions of library collections and catalogs, which the scientist devoted a significant amount of his scientific and methodical works including his thesis, textbooks and manuals, which is trained several generations of future professionals of librarianship.
