Abstract
The publication reveals the problem of the development of Ukrainian ethnographic researches of the 19th–20th centuries that dealt with the study of peculiarities of pedagogy from a factual point of view. The author comes to a conclusion, that the value of ethnographic sources is decreasing with the approximation to the present. The most important are records, made in the pre-reform Russian empire (until 1861) of the 19th century, were noted with an increased interest in the study of the ethnography of childhood, an intensification of interest in folk culture, folk pedagogy. Considerable ethnographic sources for studying the education of children of Eastern Slavs were the study of ethnographers of the 20th century. At that time, accumulation of a large array of ethnographic factual material, its systematization, comprehension and analysis took place.
