Abstract
This article presents the results of the lexical-semantic analysis of Korean onomatopoeic words on the material of Korean folk tales. In total, 97 onomatopoeic words from 74 fairy tales were identified and analyzed, which, as a result, were divided into certain functional and semantic groups: 1) imitation of the sound of living nature: a) imitation of sounds produced by a person; b) imitation of sounds produced by animals; 2) imitation of the sounds of inanimate nature: a) imitation of the sounds of the plant world and natural phenomena; b) imitation of sounds produced by objects. And also, the most numerous onomatopoeias among imitations to sounds of alive and lifeless nature are defined
