MEANS OF COMPETENCE-BASED TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of teaching foreign languages means in primary school, which are used in secondary schools of Ukraine, and to the problems of constructing new educational-methodical complex on the basis of competence- based learning. The constant changes in the society as a whole and in the system of foreign language education in particular, are making new demands to the means of teaching. The article reveals the concept of “teaching means”; the types of teaching means for teachers and students are specified; the questions of using audio-visual and technical teaching aids in educational process are raising; the objective necessity for realization of competence-oriented approach in the content of textbooks for primary schools, which would meet the requirements that have been established in foreign language education in Ukraine for the last time, is proved. The task of today is the creation of new learning-methodical complex in foreign languages, built on a fundamentally new theoretical foundations taking into account modern achievements of methodics and related sciences: linguistics, psychology, psycholinguistics, didactics. The author substantiates the status, initial position and the appointment of the learning-methodical complex, its composition, structure, connection between its components, functions of each component. Special attention is paid to the requirements of the learning-methodical complex. New learning-methodical complex, created on the basis of competence-oriented teaching, are to help the teacher to implement the goals and tasks of the school foreign language education in accordance with the requirements of the State standard and the current curriculum taking into account the objective conditions of teaching this subject in primary school. To make the right choice from the variety of proposed textbooks, the teacher needs to be able to analyse and critically assess the means of teaching foreign languages for younger students. The author notes that quite often in the educational process of the primary school the teachers use a variety of training materials additionally to the textbook as the main means of teaching. Therefore, there is an objective need in depth study of these training materials and their classification. However, the need for optimal and deep consciousness of their choice depends on the teacher's professional preparation and use of training materials in teaching and educational process equally with the textbook as the main mean of teaching.
