Abstract

The aim of the study is to uncover the views of biology teacher candidates attending pedagogical formation certificate program (PFCP) toward teaching profession and their emotion and thinking at the beginning of their profession. The participants were 35 biology teacher candidates attending a pedagogical certificate program at a public university in the western part of Turkey. In the research, “Form of Emotion and Thinking felt on the first day of school and Teaching Profession” prepared by the researchers were used. Inductive content analysis was applied to the analysis of the data. As a result of research it was determined that for the participants teaching profession requires a good communication with students and professional knowledge, patient, effort, responsibility and devotion. They also added that teachers should transmit information to children. They reported that at the beginning of their profession they simultaneously felt “excitement, desire, uneasiness, happiness, satisfaction and comfort”.
