Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out whether school administirators have hygiene creating factors such as feeling good about one's job satifiers or motivators (context, intrinsic or psychological factors in addition to success being known, the job itself, responsibility, progress and growth) and feeling bad generally in workplace (context, extrinsic, physical factors alongside company rules, supervision, co worker relationships, working conditions and wage) which Herzberg stated in his motivation hygiene theory. The research is a qualitative study which is shaped as a case study to deeply examine the factors which cause the job satisfaction and job dissatisfaction of the school administrators. The datas of the research were collected by critical incident technique. At least one school administrator who is on duty on each grade of education which forms the research's study group is chosen by maximum variation sampling which is a method of purposive sampling. Research findings are arranged by using Frederick Herzberg's two factor (motivation-hygiene) theory. Based on research findings, the following results were obtained. The factors which cause job satisfaction and job dissatisfaction on administrators of education institutions are different from each other. While existing findings which are proposed in Herzberg's two factor (motivation-hygiene) theory; are in quality of supporting the situations which people feel good about their jobs are markedly different from the situations which they feel bad themselves, it differentiates from Herzberg's motivation hygiene theory datas in terms of the diversity/quality of factors which motivate the administrators of education institutions who are in research and the diversity/quality of factors which cause job nonsatisfaction/ dissatisfaction.
