Abstract
Technology has brought many new challenges to the profession. In libraries context change management is to deal with the change by implementing new technologies, techniques to provide better and satisfactory services to users. Here the challenge lies in effectively utilizing the limited staff to meet the growing needs of technology based challenges. Adopting technology with appropriate change management elements, the libraries can prepare themselves to take the challenge of serving the users satisfactorily in this technology driven environment. The paper highlights the manpower related issues where the impact of change is seen at the maximum. A survey conducted among the librarians of 22 colleges of Assam shows that majority(72.73%) of respondents consider support from staff as the main problem area in change process; followed by support from authority, skilled manpower and staff limitation.
