Abstract
The present study is an attempt to answer the research question that whether the universities, being the centre of disseminating information and knowledge, have been acknowledging and exercising their social roles by providing the users ample information sources to solve their social concerns and realize their social responsibilities? To answer this primary question, the information has been conducted through empirical-analytical approach, while applying the participant-observation method. The relevant enquiries have been obtained with the use of sample survey technique. The study reveals that though, universities have been making noticeable efforts to be compatible to their social roles, but still the libraries are underperforming in this regard and there is still huge scope for the libraries in disseminating social values, sensitizing the users towards social responsibilities and establishing the social harmony.
